Financial Advice for the decisions  that matter

Before we talk about pensions, investments or mortgages, I want to know what you're trying to make possible.

I help individuals, families and business owners work through their financial decisions, then put the right plan and products in place.

You may have been sent here because...

Many of my clients first speak to me after an introduction from their accountant or another professional.

There is usually a financial decision that needs looking at in the context of everything else. Retirement is getting closer. There is money sitting in the business. A pension or investment has built up over time without much of a plan around it. A mortgage, borrowing or commercial finance decision needs sorting out. Or there are simply several financial decisions that have never quite been joined together.

My job is to help you work out what matters, what needs doing and what can be left alone.

What the planning is for

The starting point is your life rather than a pension, investment or mortgage.

We work out what you want your money to make possible, what that is likely to cost, and what needs to happen financially to support it.

Sometimes that means changing something. Sometimes it means confirming that what you already have is doing its job. Products come afterwards.

This is called Lifestyle Wealth Planning & Advice.

Advice that joins up

Financial decisions rarely sit neatly in one box. A pension decision can affect tax. Business cash can affect personal planning. A mortgage can change what is sensible elsewhere.

Where useful, I can work alongside your accountant, solicitor or other professional so that each person deals with their own area, while the decisions still make sense together.

Products have a job to do

I advise on pensions, investments, mortgages, commercial finance and protection.

The important question is not whether a product sounds attractive. It is what job it needs to do in your plan.

If there is no clear job for it,

there is little reason to have it.

Where specialist advice is needed, I also work with professionals in areas such as tax, accountancy, wills and estate planning, and equity release.

About Adam

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a financial adviser. Yes, really.

I started my career in financial services in 2001 and have worked in administration, underwriting, compliance, training and advice, both in banks and independent firms. That has given me a broad view of how financial services works and, more importantly, what good financial planning looks like in practice.

After a break from the industry, I set up Ironbridge Financial Services in 2019. I wanted to build a firm where the starting point was the person and the decisions they were trying to make, rather than whichever pension, investment or mortgage happened to be under discussion.

That is still how I work. Before recommending anything, I want to understand what you are trying to achieve, what you already have and what your money needs to do.

Sometimes something needs changing. Sometimes the useful advice is that it doesn't.

Ironbridge is deliberately a small firm. When you contact me, you deal with me. I do the planning, give the advice and remain the person you speak to when something changes or you have a financial decision that needs thinking through.

I have always been curious about how to do this job better. I still learn from other advisers, professionals and specialists, but the test is simple: does it help me give better advice or help a client make a better decision?

Already have a financial adviser?

A second opinion can still be useful.

If you are paying for ongoing advice but most of the conversation is about your investments, it may be worth asking whether the rest of your financial life is getting enough attention.

Sometimes that confirms that what you already have is perfectly sensible. Sometimes it identifies decisions or planning that have been left unresolved.

Either is useful to know.
